Mini-Film: Exterior On-Site (2018)
Heron’s Head Park, San Francisco
This mini-film was shot at Heron’s Head Park, the restored and preserved wetland area in the India Basin District of San Francisco. During the making of this film, JPMW was in the midst of its RAW residency, exploring precarity and vulnerability in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. With the added precarity caused by autumn fires, including the Camp Fire, which happened to create a delicate sky of light on the day we filmed, we decided to make a mini film in relationship to our residency. We chose Heron’s Head Park as our film site; a restored park area that was left unattended to for years, while in the meantime its neighbors in adjacent Bayview Hunters Point, were kept in a dangerously vulnerable state, with their district being used as a toxic waste dumpsite.
