Jennifer Perfilio

Jennifer Perfilio (She/Her) is the founder and Artistic Director of JPMW.  As a dancer, Perfilio has performed in the works of choreographers in NYC, Nashville, and San Francisco, including Christy Funsch, Amy Foley, Charles Moulton, Mary Carbonara, HT Chen, Mark Dendy, Donna Rizzo, and Andrew Krichels.  She has a long history as a site-specific dancer, committed to exploring the intersection of art and public space in  works by choreographers Stephen Koplowitz, Alexandra Beller, Jess Curtis/Gravity, Katie Faulkner, and for 10 years with Kim Epifano’s Epiphany Dance Theater.   Her teaching is rooted in improvisational forms, kinesthetic knowledge of place, and anatomy-based inquiry.  She founded JPMW in 2016, as a commitment to fostering the vitality of dance and dance performance amidst the dramatically changing pace of San Francisco’s artistic landscape. JPMW creates and presents work rooted in collaborative process, community engagement, and support for other artists. Its current performance practice integrates art and urban landscape; and explores and presents ways of sharing space versus occupying it.
